Content/Layout
The following sections are required:
-
Title: Concise description of the study; do not include brand or manufacturer names.
-
Author(s)
-
Background : A statement of the research question or hypothesis and the supporting rationale.
-
Methods: Description of the research design in sufficient detail to permit judgment of its validity. Must indicate statistical tests used. For studies involving human subjects, must include a statement that institutional review board (IRB) or ethics committee approval was obtained.
-
Results : Summary of research findings with data and statistical analysis. Do not state 'see Table' or 'see Figure'.
-
Tables, Figures or Graphs : No more than two per poster.
-
Conclusions: Interpretation of the results.
-
Disclosures: All authors' relations with industry for the previous 2 years must be disclosed. If there are no disclosures, state none.
-
Prioritize Scanability: Eliminate dense paragraphs. Use bullet points, active voice, and plenty of white space, so the "big picture" is accessible within seconds.
-
Use Declarative Graphics: Ensure every figure is self-explanatory and keep all labels legible from 3 feet away.
-
Emphasize High-Contrast Design: Stick to a clean, simple layout with dark text on a light background for maximum readability.
-
Design for Engagement: Don't crowd the board with every detail. Use a QR code to link to your full data or contact info.
-
Foster Connection: Remember that the poster is just a backdrop for you. Stay open to questions and use this as a chance to network. Engaging with clinicians and fellow researchers is where the most exciting collaborations and "aha!" moments actually happen.
