Michigan Society for Respiratory Care

Homer Engert was a true legend in the field of respiratory care.  He was one of the first generation of RRTs, with a registry ID number in the double digits.  He started two different respiratory training programs in two different parts of the state, was a founding member of the original Michigan Society of Inhalation Therapy (what is know the MSRC), and was a tireless advocate for the profession and our patients.  Known always as brilliant but humble and a consummate educator, Homer was a mentor and inspiration to countless therapists, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.

To celebrate his memory, MSRC is proud to introduce an award to recognize current therapists who embody Homer's legacy of dedication, innovation, and leadership.  We invite you to nominate your colleague who goes above and beyond every day on behalf of their patients and/or the respiratory care community.  In order to nominate your candidate for outstanding therapist, please click the link to the right and complete the form.  Your nomination will then be blinded and evaluated by our Awards Committee, who will then refer up to three candidates to be voted on by the MSRC House of Representatives.  The award will be presented during the opening ceremonies of the 2019 Spring Conference.
